Operations

Joel MorrisAssistant Vice President & Director of Operations

Joel came on board with Security Engineers in January 2001 as the Manager of Operations from a diverse background in the private security industry. As Director of Operations, Joel is primarily responsible for designing and implementing security officer schedules and is a major factor in the selection of officers for post assignment. Joel manages a staff of 10 – 12 personnel who provide 24 hour-a-day Dispatch and Field Supervision for Birmingham area clients.

Information Systems

Michael NesslerAssitant Vice President & Director of IT

Mike came to Security Engineers in February 1996 with 16 years of experience in law enforcement as a municipal police officer with Gadsden and Piedmont Police Departments. Mike has earned many distinctions as his experience and duties have grown with Security Engineers:

  • March 2002 – Present: Assistant VP/Director of IT
  • November 2002 – Present: President, Investigations Corporation of Alabama (a wholly owned subsidiary of Security Engineers)
  • April 2001 – March 2002: Director of Quality Assurance
  • December 1999 – April 2001: Quality Assurance Manager
  • February 1996 – December 1999: Compass Bank Project Manager

Training, Safety, and Compliance

Mark QuimbyManager of Training

Mark came to Security Engineers in 2006. As a former Marine, he also boasts a Bachelors Degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor Certification for Handgun – Shotgun – and Patrol Rifle (Instructor #166346736), PPCT Defensive Tactics Instructor Certification, SHARP Instructor Certification, TAC Chemical Weapons Instructor Certification, and ASRB Trainer 2 Certification. Mark’s primary duties and responsibilities are:

  • Principal classroom, firearms, chemical weapons and defensive tactics instructor.  Responsible for the initial training of newly hired security officers for all Security Officers in the State of Alabama.
  • Maintain training records on all security personnel employed by Security Engineers, Inc.
  • Command, control and maintenance of records relative to all company and privately owned firearms employed by security personnel.
  • Provide, upon request, firearms qualifications and certifications for those clients serviced by Security Engineers, Inc.
  • Conduct Workplace Violence & Hostile Intruder training for clients and key locations in Security Engineers, Inc. service areas.
Greg DonohoeManager of Safety & Compliance

Greg came to Security Engineers in June of 2012 to take on the task of assisting the company Security Officers in acquiring their Security Officer State License. With 23 years of experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he brings an unmatched capability within our compliance department. His duties include:

  • Maintain and coordinate our Security Officer State Licensing program
  • Provide and administer all in-service exams pertaining to state licensing
  • Maintain and coordinate our Safety Rewards Program
  • Monitors the Drug Free Workplace Policy
  • Liaison to Alabama State Regulatory board

Marketing and Communications

Frank RobersonManager of Marketing & Communications

Frank came to Security Engineers in 2011. As a former Marine, he also boasts a Bachelor’s Degree in Private Security Management (IDM) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and PPCT Defensive Tactics Instructor Certification. Frank’s primary duties and responsibilities are:

  • Track corporate contracts to include budgetary analysis for annual purchase orders
  • Develop recommendations and competitive security bids for private industry, government and civic organizations, schools and institutions, medical facilities, etc.
  • Design, develop and maintain Company web site
  • Develop new venues of marketing to promote services to a wider range of potential clients
  • Manage centralized master database of company-wide customers and prospects
  • Design and distribute Company newsletters
  • Oversees the usage of company social media accounts

Finance & Accounting

Asa SheltonController

Security Engineers, Inc. welcomed Asa Shelton and named him Controller in April 2012.

His main responsibilities at Security Engineers include:

  • Managing day to day accounting operations of all divisions of Security Engineers for payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Oversees preparation and timely payments of payroll taxes, occupational taxes and business licenses for all corporate divisions
  • Performs periodic internal audits of all corporate divisions and produces financial reports for management review
  • Works to assist outside CPAs in the year-end corporate audit by supplying reports and information for verification of corporate financial information

Human Resources

Miriam GoyneDirector of Human Resources

Mim has been with Security Engineers since 1996. Having watched the company grow from a mere 250 employees to over 1500 in her tenure, Mim’s responsibilities have grown to include:

  • Developing and managing the overall Recruitment Process
  • Managing the New Hire and Application Process, including Interviews, reviewing qualification and training information and determining placement of Qualified Applicants
  • Managing and maintaining all employee files and records including Recognitions and Disciplinary Reports
  • Overseeing the Uniform Department including working with suppliers and ordering supplies
  • Overseeing the development and updates of the Employee Handbook
  • Assisting field offices with legal issues related to hiring, terminations and employment
Mary KimbroughManager of Human Resources

Mary started with Security Engineers in October 1998. She juggles many duties in her position which include:

  • Managing the switchboard and front office
  • Scheduling appointments for the Application Process
  • Assisting with Interviews and placement of Qualified applicants
  • Scheduling training for new hires
  • Assisting with personnel records and paperwork
  • Assisting with uniforms and supplies
  • Managing Worker’s Compensation claims
Dolly GaboyaBenefits Coordinator & Human Resources Assistant Manager

A member of our team since 2012, Dolly’s responsibilities have grown to include:

  • The processing of benefits BCBS, Aetna, Delta Dental, VSP, and MD Live
  • The processing of PTO requests
  • Drug Testing
  • Background checks
  • ID Badge printing
